Pierre Laurent Robert (born 21 May 1975) is a French former professional footballer who played as a left winger. He was known for his powerful shot, particularly from free kicks.
He moved to mainland France aged 16 and began his professional career with Montpellier and Paris Saint Germain, playing and scoring in the UEFA Champions League with the latter. In 2001, he transferred to Premier League club Newcastle United for a £10 million fee, helping them qualify for several European tournaments including the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in 2003-4.
